Solid Documents Releases Version 9.0

Nelson, New Zealand —June 18, 2014—Solid Documents, a leading developer of document reconstruction and archiving software, today announced the release of version 9.0 of Solid Converter PDF and Solid PDF Tools.

"It has been a busy year at Solid Documents. Our software engineers continue to work with our technology partners to make important improvements to our reconstruction and PDF conversion engine. All these improvements are now included in our v9 update to Solid Converter and Solid PDF Tools." said Michael Cartwright, CEO of Solid Documents.

High quality optical character recognition (OCR) now supports 14 languages (English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Russian) for reconstructing scanned pages as editable documents. Modern computers can take advantage of multi-processor parallel performance improvements with OCR (scanned PDF to Word, scanned PDF to PDF/A).

Other improvements include:

  • Scanning functionality to support legacy drivers (WIA) on the most recent versions of Windows
  • By popular demand we've integrated features such as print and search to make our products better default PDF viewers
  • Less complex XML output for .DOCX which improves machine consumption of output and improves editing of Word documents
  • Many PDF to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and text conversion improvements
  • Complex table reconstruction improvements
  • Data recovery from scanned PDFs into Microsoft Excel
